WEB City Exit Champions League After Penalty Shoot-Out Heartbreak

Pep Guardiola's side suffered a 4-3 penalty shoot-out exit after the sides had drawn 4-4 on aggregate.

Manchester City are out of the Champions League after losing 4-3 on penalties to Real Madrid in a thrilling semi-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions had fought back from a 3-1 deficit in the first leg to level the tie on aggregate, but they ultimately fell short in the shoot-out as Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved two penalties.

Riyad Mahrez had given City the lead in the second half, but Rodrygo's late equaliser sent the game to extra time.

Karim Benzema then put Real Madrid ahead in extra time, but Ruben Dias's header levelled the tie once more.

The game went to penalties, and Courtois saved spot-kicks from Mahrez and Jack Grealish to send Real Madrid through to the final.

It is a cruel end to City's Champions League campaign, but they can still win the Premier League and the FA Cup this season.
